Buyer's Guide

Two ways to own a piece: win it at auction, or buy it outright on the marketplace. This is how buying works end to end — registering, researching a lot, placing a maximum bid, and what you pay when the hammer falls — plus the guarantee that sits behind every purchase.

How POP GRIT works

POP GRIT is a members' marketplace for rare, retired and collectible LEGO, sold collector to collector. Every piece is authenticated and condition-graded by a specialist before it is listed — however you choose to buy it.

There are two ways to acquire a piece, and you can do both from a single account.

Track A · Auction
Won at hammer
Grail lots and the rarest pieces go to a timed auction. You bid against other members over a set window; the highest bid when the clock stops wins.
Best forRare & grail lots
Track B · Marketplace
Bought buy-now
Everyday collectibles carry a fixed price. Buy instantly with no clock to watch — and consumer buy-now orders carry a 14-day return.

Create your account

Membership is by introduction, and a verified account is required before you can bid or buy. Setting it up takes a few minutes.

Register
Create an account with your email and a few details. Browsing, watchlists and price alerts are open to everyone.
Verify to bid
Before your first bid we confirm your identity and a payment method. This keeps the room genuine and protects sellers — a one-time step.
Your watchlist
Save any lot to follow it. We alert you before it closes and the moment you are outbid.
Bidding limits
New accounts start with a bid ceiling that lifts automatically as your history builds — or immediately on request for a specific lot.
03

Before you bid

An auction purchase is binding, so we give you everything needed to bid with confidence — and we would always rather you asked first.

Condition report
Every lot carries a full condition report graded against our six-tier scale. Read it alongside the photography. See the condition guide →
Provenance
Where a piece has documented history — original receipts, prior-sale records, studio paperwork — it is published on the lot.
Ask & inspect
Request extra photographs, measurements or a video any time before bidding closes. High-value lots can be viewed in person in Copenhagen by appointment.
Estimate & reserve
Each lot shows a guide estimate. Some carry a confidential reserve — the minimum the seller will accept — and only sell once it is met.
04

How the auction works

Our sales are timed, not live-room — there is no auctioneer and no need to be present. You set your terms and the clock does the rest.

Timed format
Each lot opens and closes at a published time. Bid whenever you like during the window — day or night.
Bid increments
Bids rise in set steps based on the current price, so you never have to guess the next valid amount: €5 up to €100, €10 to €500, €25 to €1,000, €100 to €5,000, then €250 and above.
Maximum (proxy) bid
Set the most you are willing to pay and we bid on your behalf, one increment at a time, only as far as needed. Others never see your maximum.
Anti-snipe extension
A bid in the final two minutes extends the lot by two minutes, so a sale can never be stolen in the last second. Bidding ends only when the room falls quiet.
05

Placing & managing bids

Bidding is built to be calm and clear — set your terms once and let the system do the watching.

Place a bid
Enter your bid — or your maximum — and confirm. A bid is a commitment, so confirm carefully.
Outbid alerts
If someone passes your maximum we tell you instantly, by email and on-site, with time to respond before close.
Your activity
Track everything you are bidding on, winning and watching from one place in your account.
Bid retraction
Bids are binding and cannot be retracted on a whim. Contact the concierge at once if you have made a genuine error.
06

Winning & payment

When the clock stops and you are in front, the lot is yours. Here is what happens next.

Buyer's premium
A buyer's premium of 15% is added to the hammer price. The total — hammer plus premium, plus any shipping — is what you pay. There are no other fees.
How to pay
Settle within three working days of the sale by card, bank transfer or an approved instant method. We email an itemised invoice the moment you win.
Then despatch
Once payment clears, your lot is packed and insured for despatch. See shipping & returns →
Combined shipping
Won several lots inside 14 days? We consolidate them into one insured consignment, so you pay carriage once.
07

The buy-now marketplace

Not everything goes to auction. The marketplace lists fixed-price pieces you can buy outright — no clock, no bidding.

Buy instantly
See it, buy it. Fixed-price orders are confirmed immediately and prepared for despatch like any won lot.
Make an offer
Selected listings accept offers. Propose a price and the seller can accept, decline or counter.
14-day return
Consumer buy-now orders in the EU carry a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal, provided the piece is unused and complete. Sealed sets must stay sealed.
No buyer's premium
Marketplace prices are the price. The buyer's premium applies to auction wins only.
08

Fees, delivery & protection

One promise sits behind every purchase, whichever way you buy: the piece is genuine and as described, or your money comes back.

What you pay
Auction: hammer + 15% premium + shipping. Marketplace: list price + shipping. Import duty or tax may apply outside the EU.
Authenticity guarantee
If a piece is later found not to be genuine, or materially not as described, return it for a full refund — premium included.
Secure payment
Funds are handled securely and released to the seller only once the sale is complete. You are never paying a stranger directly.
Delivery & insurance
Every consignment ships fully insured, door to door, tracked and signed for. Shipping & returns →

Common questions

Still unsure? Ask the concierge
No. Set a maximum bid and we bid for you up to your limit; the anti-snipe extension means you cannot lose in the final second. We alert you the moment you are outbid.
A 15% charge added to the hammer price on auction wins, itemised on your invoice. It does not apply to fixed-price marketplace orders.
Yes — request extra photographs or a video at any time, or view high-value lots in person in Copenhagen by appointment. Always read the condition report first.
Payment is due within three working days. A winning bid is binding; non-payment can forfeit the lot and affect your account standing. Talk to us early if there is a problem.
Auction wins are final, save for the authenticity guarantee. Consumer buy-now orders carry a 14-day return if unused and complete — though sealed sets must stay sealed. See returns →
Never. We only ever bid the next increment needed on your behalf; your ceiling stays private until the moment it is exceeded.
